At The Grand in downtown Wilmington: An Evening of Artistic Magic presented by Communities In Schools of Delaware (Sep 12), Molly Tuttle (Sep 18), Welcome Back My Friends – An Evening with Emerson, Lake & Palmer (Sep 19), Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs (Sep 25) and Samara Joy and Her Septet (Sep 27). Broadway in Wilmington then opens its 2026-2027 season with THE WIZ at The Playhouse, October 23-25 – the show’s first return since 1978.

If a bank has told you no because of your credit score, this program was built for you. Stepping Stones Community Federal Credit Union will offer low-interest loans to graduates of West End Neighborhood House’s Launcher Entrepreneurship Program in Wilmington.

The terms: loans capped at $10,000 per Launcher graduate at a 2% interest rate. The program is backed by $469,000 in state funds from the Delaware Community Investment Venture Fund, created to expand capital access in low- to moderate-income communities and small businesses, plus a $250,000 capital deposit from Capital One at CDFI Stepping Stones.

The path in runs through Launcher itself – West End Neighborhood House’s 14-week entrepreneurship program, which takes Wilmingtonians with an idea through business planning and financial projections. West End is a nonprofit offering financial coaching, housing stability and youth development programs.

Wilmington has opened the application portal for its Affordable Housing Development Subsidy Program, with $8.4 million available to developers and community development partners.

The city says the funding is meant to strengthen neighborhoods, expand housing opportunities and promote long-term neighborhood stability. Proposals should advance three goals: increasing the supply of affordable housing, preserving existing affordable units, and fostering vibrant, stable neighborhoods.

The deadline matters: complete funding proposals must be submitted no later than Monday, August 31.

Context – Mayor John Carney and City Council have sparred over affordable housing policy. Carney vetoed a Council ordinance to create an affordable housing trust, and a Council effort to override that veto failed last month.
